“He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.…therefore what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed it’s coming. Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation…” -2 Peter 3:9,11-12, 15
A Prayer:
God of heaven, we bless and thank you for your great patience with us. We honour you for your common grace given to people throughout the world, your abundant blessings given to all humankind. We worship you for the breath and life that you give, for the food we enjoy and the homes that we live in with family and friends. We thank you particularly for the grace of repentance, made possible by the work of your Holy Spirit in our lives.
In a world that seems so often to be increasingly chaotic and uncertain, we affirm again in our hearts that you, O Lord are very much at work in our world and that you are seeking to save and reconcile those who are lost. We declare that your mighty arm is not too short to save, that there is no one who is beyond your reach and that your desire is for everyone to come to repentance.
Our Father in heaven, thank you for your patience with us. Help us to be patient with others. We confess that we are a hurried people, and have allowed ourselves to be caught up in the myriad of assignments and tasks, opportunities and events, anxieties and worries of life. We confess that we are not naturally a patient people and that we are often impatient with ourselves and with others. Give us the grace of your Spirit to produce in us the fruit of patience and may it be evident in us and through us, as we navigate the challenges of the coming days.
We offer this prayer through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever, Amen.

Praying these out loud in the quiet of my morning…words to begin my day and the Word to go on with!
A very inspirational and informative reading! All my life I have felt that God's time mentioned in the Bible never equated to our time. When God created the earth in one day it wasn't 24 hours but was as long as God needed, but for us the Bible uses a time that we could relate to. Finally reading 2 Peter 3:8 answers that question I have had most of my life!
