Day 5 reading: 2 Corinthians 4:6

“For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.”
A Prayer:
Lord Jesus, today as we ponder the radiant brightness of the spiritual light of God that shone from your face, we pause and respond with a prayer of worship. We imagine the life and hope that came to people when you walked into a room, when you spoke about God, and even when you listened to the people around you.
We worship you for your compassion and merciful presence that always displayed and revealed the truth about God to everyone you saw. You were the perfect reflection of your Father who sent you and you remain the perfect image of God to us.
Jesus, we pray that you would cause that same light to shine in our hearts and also through us to those around us. You said that we should let our light shine, and so we ask for the grace of the Holy Spirit to enable us to display the spiritual light that has the power to dispel despair and hopelessness in our own lives and in the lives of those we come in contact with.
This Advent season, we open ourselves to your eternal light, and believe that as the sun rises each morning, so your divine light would also rise upon us this day.
Amen.
