Hi again! Today I am excited to welcome another guest writer to our series. Pastor Tyler Williams from Greenfield Community Church, has been my pastor for the last 8 years. He is also an Old Testament scholar and a personal friend of mine. I have a ton of respect for him and I hope you enjoy his contribution to our series.

Day 12 reading: Isaiah 9:1-2
“Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the future he will honor Galilee of the nations, by the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan— The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned” -Isaiah 9:1-2 (NIV)
A Prayer:
Father God, we know this Advent and Christmas season can be a difficult time of year for many.
We thank you that you did not leave us in distress or deep darkness, but you sent your Son Jesus Christ — the light of the world — to save us from our sins and give us new life.
We pause now to pray for those we know who are in distress or walking in darkness this season. Break though their darkness with your great light. Soften their hearts so that they may see your light. And God of all comfort, we ask you come alongside all who are in distress with your grace and compassion.
Holy Spirit, we ask that you fill us daily. Let our lights shine before others through practical acts of kindness and love so that they may give you glory.
In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.
