A Prayer:
Our Father in heaven, we profess that you are indeed the Mighty One who has done great things for us! As you have done for generations you continue to extend mercy toward us and reveal yourself as the God who delights to show mercy. We thank you that you have not forgotten us, and that you are with us in the midst of the deepest valleys and highest mountains of life.
Your goodness and faithfulness go beyond our experience or emotions. You are Immanuel, God with us!
Fill us afresh and renew in us a sense of awe and wonder at who you are! We say that “there is no one holy like the Lord; there is not one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.”*
Today we pray: open the eyes of our heart, Lord; yes, open the eyes of our heart and cause your divine light to allow us to see the many ways that you have helped us, delivered us and saved us, so that we may proclaim once again: “the Mighty One has done great things for (us) - holy is (your) name.”
All this we pray through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever, Amen.
